Note
Answering a request about the possible publication of his works in Swedish, providing information on other translations of his works, but stating that he will not send any copy of his books. Humorous, typical Reve letters, in English (the second letter with a third (P.S.) leaf in German. The first letter has a large number of corrections, and happened to be a draft that was sent by mistake by Reve, as mentioned in the second letter. "(...) By mistake & in a depressive mood a rough draft of my letter slipped through into the mail collection of yesterday. You may throw it away, burn it, tear it to scraps, or eat it up. (...) Who could translate my book for you? My style is terse & complicated - the precision of Flaubert + the violence of Celine & Genet. And how much - how little, I mean - are you prepared to pay? (...) Weiter nichts. (...) P.S. Es is sehr gut, dass Sie nun alle rechts fahren." [13/12/1970].
"(...) Enclosed please find two letters by van het Reve. They were written during my time at Bonniers (...). Rereading the letters now I am not sure if they are of great interest, but that is of course a matter for you to decide.(...)". Also referring to a meeting he had with Louis Paul Boon ("A most charming man I must say - and aware of his position at the same time").
