Anmerkungen
Kellermann's famous novel about the construction of a transatlantic tunnel was published in 1913. For almost 20 years, the illustration by Hans Baluschek adorned the dustwr. In 1931, this was replaced by Salter's breathtakingly dynamic drawing, which extends pictorially across the entire dustwr. Holstein p.275: "The famous jacket by Georg Salter replaced Hans Baluschek's more old-fashioned jacket from 1913, and was first issued with the special edition (26-50.000). The design highlights machine age aesthetics in the same vein as John Heartfield's photomontages."
